why am i bothering to learn dutch when there’s still so many english words i don’t understand. like “bolster” or “acumen” or “percolate”

beat the system: don’t learn words, only communicate through interpretive dance.

  4. mroldguy said: Bolster means strengthen, Acumen means good at decision making, percolate means to gradually filter. But really, like, none of those words will matter anyway, unless you’re going to start writing.

  7. nanisnae said: Because dutch has words like “klootviool” to offer, and it’s the best insult in the world. (kloot being a very old-fashioned word for ball, but nowadays more commonly used as a crude word for ballsack, whereas viool means violin)
